There are positives to being a very empathetic person like myself. For example, I make a great friend to talk to because I can really put myself in your shoes. It also makes me very forgiving since I can (usually) understand why people do the things they do. However, there are several downsides, and one of them is that when a tragedy like what happened in Newtown, Connecticut happens, I cannot stop thinking about it or feeling for those families. My husband is what one might call an “avoider”. It’s not that he doesn’t have feelings about it (in fact, I saw his eyes fill up with tears several times) but that he can choose not to think about it, so he doesn’t walk around like me every day. For the past several days that my children have been in school, I’ve had moments of panic, where I want to get in the car and go pick them up. It is irrational and I know that, but I have gone so far as to get in my car and pull out of the driveway. What stops me is the thought that if I take them out today, what am I going to do tomorrow? I only have a few days to go until Christmas break, which is very comforting. Meanwhile, I’ve taken to dedicating my runs to each of the victims. Yesterday I ran for this little cutie-patootie Olivia Engel. She is just one of the cutest little angels I have ever seen.

My dear bargain hunters, as I mentioned last week I began a real estate course. I really love the course and I’m very interested in the material. I’m excited about my new career! But transitioning is a little bit of a challenge – this week I have a full time class every day, so I might not be able to get you as many great bargains as usual.
