JCP bargains are back

Posted on

In an earlier post I wrote about the inexplicable incompetence of JCPenney’s new CEO.  He must have listened to me (:)) because I see the remnants of the old JCP online lately. I have a news flash for him – JCPenney is never going to be a Nordstrom or a Pottery Barn. Their niche, it seems to me, was to be the less-expensive options to that type of retail.  For example, when I see a great dress like this one at Nordstrom and I don’t feel like paying $188 for it, I can go over to JCP and find something similar and pay, oh, $10. Yes, this Robbie Bee Tribal Print V-Neck Maxi Dress is $10. It might not be the same quality as the Nordstrom dress (although sometimes you are surprised) – but throw a cardigan over it and wa-la.

Happy happy Friday bargain hunters!

Is it Friday yet?

Posted on

I haven’t said that in a long time, but I really mean it today!  After getting laid off (sort of) a few years ago, I have been home with the little (but getting bigger) ones and I haven’t looked forward to Friday like this in quite a while.  I really do love my real estate class, but I’m ready for it to end! The nice thing is that I get to wear comfortable clothes and it has forced me to evaluate what is and isn’t comfortable in my closet.  I mean sit-in-a-training-class-all-day comfortable. A few of the pieces I have that are truly comfie are from JJill which has been in the past one of my favorite places to shop.  For some reason, though, I haven’t bought from there in awhile, so this morning I went and checked out their sale items.  I especially love this fringed jacquard cardigan. What could be easier to throw on in the morning and more comfortable and hide several packages of Oreos? Plus, I just really love fringe. What can I say – I should have been an adult in the 60s. :)

Have a great day bargain hunters!

Really beautiful affordable jewelry at Burnish

Posted on

I don’t browse through Etsy very often, but I was searching for a plain gold necklace with a small pendant of gold.  I wanted something simple that I could wear all the time, and I couldn’t find it anywhere. Through a search on Google Shopping, I discovered Burnish. I ordered this Tiny Gold Pebble Necklace and received it yesterday.  I LOVE it and it was only $30.  It is exactly what I was looking for at a great price.  It came in a beautiful box too, which would be perfect for gift giving. I am just so thrilled with my new necklace I had to share with you guys!

I am already plotting my next purchase.  As you know, I’ve been pretty busy lately and I don’t see that changing, well, until retirement, so I need some pieces of jewelry that I can wear all the time. That said, I just might purchase these Small Circles Simple Gold Earrings next – they are only $23.  I’ll let you know!

Today I have the day off from real estate class. Which is a relief, except that by torturing myself and taking the extreme fast track to a real estate license, I have to spend most of the day studying.  This morning I have a breakfast with a client. I own a small (very, very small) marketing and communications firm. Small, as in one client, but just yesterday I landed my second client, which is even bigger than the first!  This is great news, however, it appears that my plate is now extremely full. I’m not sure how that happened. But that always seems to be the way it goes, at least in my life!

Have a great day, bargain hunters!

New year new stuff sale at Urban Outfitters

Posted on

I used to think that Urban Outfitters was a place only young adults shopped, until my daughter started dragging me in there with her.  There are some great things in there for all ages, and some great things for all ages in their New You New Stuff Sale! Like this Coincidence & Chance Jane Intarsia Knit Pullover Sweater. This sweater has great reviews and the mustard color is beautiful.  Plus it’s only $29!

I am also loving this Ecote Hooded Locke Coat. If you’ve noticed I’ve been into the aztec/tribal thing lately. I think I must have this considering it regularly sold for $149 and it is now only $39! Oh, and orders over $50 ship free.

Life is just a little crazy this week.  My real estate class is full time, 4 days, and I’m not used to being out of the house all day. I’ll be feeling much better and able to write much more when this class is over next Tuesday!

Have a great day bargain hunters!

Any great bargains on extra time in the day?

Posted on

My dear bargain hunters, as I mentioned last week I began a real estate course.  I really love the course and I’m very interested in the material. I’m excited about my new career!  But transitioning is a little bit of a challenge – this week I have a full time class every day, so I might not be able to get you as many great bargains as usual. I do promise, however, the continuing sad, happy and true story of an inspiring real estate agent!

Every once in a while I like to stroll over to HSN and check out their clearance section.  You never know what you’ll find like this Deborah Lippmann Three Times a Lady 3-piece Nail Lacquer Set. These sets are so much fun and make great gifts (Valentine’s Day?) because of the nice packaging. Reg $42, today only $18!

I’m also checking out this Boyfriend® by Kate Walsh .5 fl. oz. Perfume Spray. Kate Walsh has that something about her doesn’t she? I tested this once and it is great – and HSN has it at a great price reg $89.95 today only $39.95!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Happy 2013

Posted on

Well, it was quite hard to get up this morning. Then I had to wake my children who just had over a week of opening presents and eating cookies, and this morning they were faced with going out in the freezing temperature to catch a school bus. Yuck. Our only ray of hope is that it is Wednesday, and thus a short week. But, we had a wonderful break and I hope you did too!

Yesterday was not a banner day for those vague new year’s resolutions in my head.  I’m always working toward some goal in my life, so generally new year’s resolutions are a bit fruitless for me. But yesterday was my anti-new year’s resolution day! I didn’t do much of anything because I was so tired, ate crappy food, and watched too much television.

It’s a good thing Amazon is having their New Year New You Sale. Sometimes you just need a little something to get inspired, and there are quite a few things in this sale that seem awfully inspiring. Like these Hoodie Sweaters for only $24.95. Don’t you just want to throw one on and take a long walk?

I wish all of you bargain hunters a happy 2013!

Gaiam Winter Clearance Sale – up to 70% off

There are two places I would like to live: in a Sundance Catalog and a Gaiam catalog. They both look like heaven on earth, don’t they? Well, my pursuit of Gaiam-topia just became a little less expensive considering they are holding their Winter Clearance Sale. I’d particularly like to build my Gaiam-topia in my bathroom.  The bathroom ideas in the Gaiam catalog look like you are stepping into a spa. I love these Lotus Leaf Bath Towel Hooks. Reg $32, today only $19.99. Oh and these Carved Acacia Panels. They aren’t discounted too much, but they are really beautiful, and spa-like! Reg $99, today $79.99.

Well, we made it to Friday. Today is my children’s last day of school before the break and I am so happy to have them home for over a week. It is also (finally) going to get cold enough so that we can have our first fire, just in time for Christmas. I’m feeling very grateful these days, and looking forward to Christmas with my family. TGIF, bargain hunters!
